He swept into my life, at a very early age,
this wondrous fantasy man of mine....
Astride a strong beautiful stallion
dressed in princely garb so fine....
I dreamed a child's dream of
"Happily Ever After"

As I began feeling the creature stirrings
of the woman inside of me, soon to be....
He again filled my dreams and emotions,
squire of an imaginary realm near the sea....
I dreamed a young ladies dream of
"Someday My Prince Will Come"

As I matured, meeting the men of my life
I compared each one of them to him....
Was he loving, kind, sensitive, intelligent,
romantic, my hopes never became dim....
I dreamed a woman's dream of
"One True Love"

My life, I have lived, while always my
thoughts, my fantasies of him lingered on...
I've had my share of love over time
some stayed and some have gone...
I dream an aging dream of
"Is This All There Is"

And though the years have changed him
he has truly always stayed the same....
Strong of heart, love and making me his ideal
yet never wearing a realistic name.....
I have dreamed a lonely lifetime of
"I Need"
